Roadcrew

We’ve taken the atmosphere of Warning Zone on the road and implement it into schools across Leicestershire and Rutland.

Did you know that over 10,000 school children visit Warning Zone every single year? Once they have visited, we try to keep the children engaged and deliver something completely unique back at their classroom.

The Warning Zone Roadcrew delivers entertaining, high impact online safety sessions to high school students. We take a pro-technology approach and believe in showing people how to engage with technology in a smarter way rather than putting them off. We can visit your school and speak to entire year groups in one go, combine multiple year groups into one, or deliver a number of presentations in a day – whatever works best for you. We also offer free Q&A sessions after each show, time permitting, and free ongoing support to staff afterwards. The current Roadcrew shows are listed below. Crowd Control

Crowd Control is an hour-long show exploring risky situations online, from hate mobs to scams. We use case studies and up to date examples to demonstrate how situations can develop and get out of control and offer practical advice about managing those situations. This show is aimed at years 8 to 11, but we can offer an advanced version for years 12 and 13.

The running order of Crowd Control is as follows:

  • The mentality of an online attacker.
  • Mass orchestrated hate campaigns. Case study: Gamergate.
  • Control tactics and propaganda techniques used by online hate mobs.
  • Gender as a factor in online abuse.
  • How information combines to reveal identities. Case study: Hunted down – a true story.
  • The risks the audience takes online.
  • Spotting fake threat reports.
  • Why you never read the terms and conditions, and what can happen as a result.
  • Strategies for strong passwords, and why common wisdom is probably wrong.
  • Being aware of, and controlling, your digital data trail.
  • Blackmail and how to escape from it.
