Delivering crucial messages from personal to online safety through stimulating and memorable experiences, helping to prepare youngsters for increased independence and their transition into early adolescence. Located on Frog Island in Leicester, the core programme aims to provide knowledge and understanding of risk, consequence of actions, peer pressure and personal responsibility. Presenting the real risks of life for children growing through to teenage years, delivered in an honest, compassionate and understandable way in order to encourage responsible behaviour and sound decision making while living full and active lives. Accidents are a leading cause of death, serious injury and acquired disability in children and young people in the UK. Wherever children live, whatever their backgrounds, Year 6 is a key time to prepare them for increased independence, a wider peer group and the natural “boundary testing” that adolescence brings. Teachers and other professionals tell us; Warning Zone tackle issues that are hard for parents to discuss with their children and difficult for teachers to effectively portray in the confines of the classroom. “Our aim is to reduce the number of children and young people entering the Criminal Justice System and improve their life chances by keeping them safe from accidental injury by increasing their understanding of risks and consequences. We also aim to provide the children with key messages regarding how to behave and keep safe online. All of these messages are delivered in an interactive and memorable manner.” “To provide a high-quality interactive learning experience which will help Year 6 children and upwards make their transition into adolescence safer by giving them some of the tools needed to become responsible members of their local community.”About Warning Zone
