An NCS Summer

Posted: 9th September 2016

Throughout the summer and autumn term we welcomed five NCS teams to Warning Zone. NCS is a national programme for 16 and 17 year olds across the nation and is designed to help them obtain transferable skills and make a difference in their local community.

Two members of staff, Lauren and Pip, spent many Wednesday morning rushing to DMU and the Athena in order to pitch to countless of NCS teams and explain why they should chose Warning Zone as their Social Action Project to raise money and awareness. We were also able to give them a little taster of the work we do as we took with us our famous 'Drunk Goggles' and challenged people to throw small balls into a bucket. As you can imagine, these were very well received given that the team consisted of around twelve 15/16 year olds!

There must have been something in the water this summer as every week we pitched, we secured at least one team. All our our teams were absolutely fantastic and planned some great events to raise money including: sponsored walks, cake sales, family-fun days, evening parties, charity dinners and much more.

An astonishing total of over £3,000 was raised by all of our teams. We thank them for their dedication and hard work and look forward to working with future teams. See below 'Team 11' hosting a cake sale at a local church.
