10th Anniversary Open Day

Posted: 24th August 2016

Saturday 13th August saw Warning Zone open its doors to the public for the first time. The Open Day marked our 10th Anniversary - that's 10 years of delivering valuable life skills to pupils and young adults and countless of young lives potentially saved.

We had some very busy weeks leading up to the Open Day as there was plenty to organise and a lot of furniture to re-arrange. Cue 9.30 Saturday morning, our fire engine was on its way, our burger van was unloading and the place was filling with stall holders, staff, volunteers, NCS members and those who will soon take us back to the 15th century or who are visiting us from the Death Star...

Our doors were open from 11am to 4pm and that day was a massive success and had a great atmosphere throughout. The Storm Troopers made their routes arresting those who spoke out against the Empire; the 15th century re-enactors gave detailed descriptions of the use of their weapons; tours of our zones were in full swing and the mini-fire engine was making its rounds.

Great raffle prizes were also on offer including:

  • Food and Drinks Hamper - donated by BNI
  • 2 Curve Tickers to see 'The Twits'
  • 12 months membership to 'The Gym'
  • Star Wars Stationary Hamper
  • Blended Whisky Selection
  • Products from The Bodyshop
  • NEXT Toiletries
  • 1000+ Earth Fact Books
  • Read & Play Princess Activity Set

A selection of refreshments on the day were donated by Britvic – the stall was very popular due to a selection of home-made cakes.

Overall, it was a fantastic day with around 500 people turning up to enjoy our facilities and to take part in the activities on offer. Watch this space as more Warning Zone events are on their way! On a final note, the winner of our ‘Spot the Frog’ competition has been announced. Check our Facebook page for the reveal, and to see photos from the day!
